Dreaming of a villa wedding can seem out of reach, like it’s just something for the ultra riche. But, believe it or not, villa weddings can price out very similar to a resort or hotel destination wedding. The wow factor- priceless! One of my favorite new villas on St Croix that is now available for private events is Clairmont Overlook. Recently I got to channel my inner Cinderella and set up a small afternoon reception for a group of travel agents, followed a couple weeks later by a private gourmet dinner by this year’s top Caribbean Chef (and St Croix’s own), Chef Digby Stridiron.

The villa itself had been updated in recent years and includes modern Caribbean furnishings and appointments that you would expect at 5-star hotels. With a majestic master bedroom overlooking and enormous en suite master bath, the master’s grandeur is topped off with majestic views of Salt River Bay and Christiansted Harbor all the way out to the hills of St Croix’s East End. The villa boasts 5 additional modernly appointed rooms, all with full private bathrooms. However, it’s the outdoor amenities that will really impress you and your guests and create an entertaining experience you’ll never forget!www.kellygreerphotographer.com
The outdoor patio area is expansive and can easily be set up with dining tables, yet still leave plenty of room for dancing. My favorite feature is the pavilion that includes a gorgeous built in mahogany bar with wine cooler and ice machine. There’s a nice lounge area and room to dine under the enclosed area as well. In the event of inclement weather, the main great room offers a still lovely backup option to dining under the stars.
Simply floating in the pool – or imagine hosting cocktail hour here – allows for majestic views of St Croix’s North Shore and its gorgeous green mountains. And it is quite possibly the largest pool on St Croix (excluding hotels).
Overall, this villa offers modern amenities with 360 degree views of St Croix and endless catering and decorating options.
When you break down the weekly rate to a per room/night double occupancy rate, you’ll really find the inherent savings in a villa wedding. We’ll use Clairmont Overlook as an example.
- If you book the villa during low season (April 16 – Dec 16) and use all 6 bedrooms the weekly rate is $6,300.
- That gives each bedroom a per night/double occupancy rate of $150/night
- ($6300 ÷ 6 bedrooms ÷ 7 nights).
When you compare that to hotel rates, that’s very comparable and quite a bit less than the local resorts. Privacy and modern amenities – wow!
